The down-the-hole impactor is a kind of impact rock drilling tool. Different from otherrock drilling tools, it remains at the bottom of the hole throughout the drilling processand directly impacts the drill bit to break the rock. The compressed gas passes throughthe drill pipe and enters the impactor, and then is discharged from the drill bit. The discharged exhaust gas is used for slag removal. The rotary motion of the impactor is provided by the rotary head, and the axial thrust is provided by the propeller, which is transmitted to the impactor through the drill pipe.
